OUR GREEN COMMITMENT

Sustainable and Green Construction

The construction industry is a resource heavy industry, with methods of construction and products used causing harm to the surrounding environment with long term impact.

The construction industry currently accounts for 40% of worldwide carbon emissions and ⅓ of the world’s overall waste. Diesel, oil, cement, paint and other chemicals are common construction materials that contribute to air and water pollution. Approximately 200 litres of water are used for every cubic metre of concrete.

With clear action, it is possible for the construction industry to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Our aim is to reduce our construction waste by 40% over the next five years with a 65% reduction in the following 10 years. We achieve this by:
  • Retaining considerate and efficient use of resources on site
  • Lowering CO2 emissions on site and in travel
  • Maximising the recyclability of excavated materials without harming quality of work
  • Using efficient methods to reduce the impact of dust, noise, vibration and site traffic in the local area
  • 100% of timber which is used on our projects is sustainably certified (PEFC and FSC)

AV Builders are members of Carbon Club; an organisation powered by Forest Carbon. We donate to offset our own carbon emissions, and they repopulate UK forests and woodlands that have been lost to the growing requirement for timber across various industries in the UK.  One tree could remove 1 tonne of CO2 from our air over its lifetime.
