The construction industry is inherently resource-intensive, with traditional methods of construction and commonly used materials having a significant impact on the environment. It is widely recognised that the sector contributes substantially to global carbon emissions and waste generation, with current estimates indicating that construction accounts for approximately 40% of worldwide carbon emissions and around one-third of total global waste.

Materials and processes such as the use of diesel, oil, cement, paints, and other chemical-based products contribute to both air and water pollution. In addition, construction activities place considerable demand on natural resources — for example, the production of concrete alone can require approximately 200 litres of water per cubic metre.

However, with a proactive and responsible approach, the construction industry has the potential to significantly reduce its environmental impact and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

At AV Builders London Ltd, we are committed to contributing to this transition. We have set clear and measurable targets to reduce our construction waste by 40% over the next five years, with a further reduction to 65% over the following ten years.

We aim to achieve these targets through:
